Spring Sound
Spring has sprung, or at the very is is springing - lots of rain, lots of sun, and lots of sounds. Sounds of things waking up. These sounds are sometimes dreary and cloudy - the drone/ambient part of the playlist. And sometimes they are upbeat and bright - which takes up the rest of the playlist but doesn't fit into exactly one genre. And sometimes they are in between!
A few highlights of this alternating drone/upbeat sense:
"Too Permanent Spring / hyper-realist" by PASSEPIED

Largely speaks for itself. Incredibly driving, feels to me like I'm sweeping over a vast open field - most representative of the upbeat/bright sound in the playlist.
"It's personal" by The Radio Dept.

In deep contrast with "Too Permanent Spring/ hyper realist", "It's personal" is starkly electronic, distorted, and brooding. Think clouds overhead as you walk to class - need to get inside before the sky lets loose. A track from when The Radio Dept. did mostly instrumentals, this song shows their impressive ability of capturing a mood while not using lyrics.
"Day Glo" by Brazos

A beautifully lax song that sounds like it might come in the reddened sunshine after the rain of "It's personal", "Day Glo" is a song that has been a favorite of mine for almost 4 years. A friend the year above me in high school showed it to me, and it has stuck ever since.
"Blossom Samurai" by Tomppabeats

It's raining again, but now its more of a drizzle. The city is still walkable, but the pavement is slick and reflects the streetlights. Also, and this is 100% an anime plug, but this song samples the opening theme of the show Samurai Champloo (owing to the name of the song), which I strongly recommend.
