The Biggest "L" of the Year
The high fashion world has been dabbling in pop culture the past few seasons, from Gucci's meme collection to Vetements's, well Vetements. Louis Vuitton has joined in the fray with a recent collaboration with streetwear brand Supreme. Their latest collaboration is even more divisive. Usually, I'm pretty bored with or uninterested in Louis Vuitton, but recently I stumbled upon the most atrocious collection that is keeping the house in my prayers. At first, I thought their new idea was interesting but further examination left me shocked and more confused.
Louis Vuitton is collaborating with Jeff Koons for a new line called "The Masters Collection" combining classic Louis Vuitton bags with iconic works of art. Individually, both are large parts of pop culture. Put together? It's much worse than you thought.
All of your favorites from the Speedy to the Neverfull to the Montaigne are being corrupted by obnoxious prints of works like Leonardo's "Mona Lisa", Van Gogh's "Wheat Field with Cypresses", and Fragonard's "Girl Playing with Dog". Across the front are metallic details of the artist's name. Why? No one knows.

I suppose this is a new turn for "creativity" for Louis Vuitton, since everyone was a bit tired of their unchanging monograms and Damier print. Hopefully, this will be the start of change for the better. Let's leave the painted bags to Kim K and Kanye.
