5 Men's Fragrances To Consider

5 Men's Fragrances To Consider

Your scent is as much a statement as your apparel, so make sure you stand out under the spotlight with a scent that suits you well.

Agonist - Isis

Developed by a Nordic brand inspired by Swedish culture, Isis combines sweet and spicy (pepper, nutmeg) elements masterfully. This contrast is unique yet overall comforting. It is a delicious scent, but not overly saccharine. Strong sillage and longevity allows for 1-2 sprays to last many hours.

Top: Fruit (citrus, peach), black pepper

Middle: Ylang ylang, nutmeg, lorenox

Bottom: Labdanum, musk, caramel, amber, vanilla

Odin - Amanu

This fragrance from the New York boutique known for its unisex collection is distinctly fresh and green. A blast of floral notes dies down into a deep, mysterious woodsy scent. With all its scent profile derived from plants, Amanu is as natural as it gets - airy and crisp. My one issue with it involves its low sillage and average projection and longevity. Re-applying several times throughout the day might be necessary.

Top: Blood orange, flower, mastic (tree resin)

MIddle: Magnolia, aged cedar leaf, jasmin sambac

Bottom: Amberwood, musk, live moss

Charenton Macerations - Christopher Street

A product of Charenton Macerations, a parfumier I particularly admire for their focus on “olfactory storytelling” and challenge against gendered fragrances, Christopher Street made a name for itself after its inclusion on multiple best perfume lists. The combination of traditionally masculine elements such as tobacco, incense and leather, feminine floral notes, and the sensuality of wet plants create a bold, modern, and spicy amalgamation of scents that is still rooted in earthy elements. Decent projection, longevity, and sillage. Must recommend.

Top: Lime cocktail, bergamot, bitter orange, leather, tobacco

Middle: Cinnamon, cloves, orange blossom, carnation

Bottom: Incense, moss, musk, myrrh, patchouli

Commes des Garcons - Energy C Grapefruit

There are plenty of citrus-based fragrances on the market, but none is as interesting as Energy C Grapefruit. Whereas grapefruit can lend a sharp, tangy element that can be dizzying, this fragrance is so well mixed that the element feels rather natural and comforting. Wearing it is a jubilant experience. Spritz it on for one of those warm days perfect for sitting on the quad with friends.

Top: Black currant buds, pink grapefruit, petitgrain

Middle: Jasmine accords, neroli, yellow mandarin

Bottom: Musk, moss and iris

Atelier Cologne - Trefle Pur

Ever walked across a dewy garden early in the day and whiffed in the scents of morning? Well, Trefle Pur, a part of Atelier Cologne’s original collection, is that sensation in a bottle. Fresh, uplifting, and sophisticated. Perfect for the outdoors, can be a bit strong indoors. Powerful sillage and projection, but average longevity.

Top: Bitter orange, cardamom, basil

Middle: Clover, violet leaf, tunisian neroli

Bottom: Patchouli, moss, musk
