Fall without the Fever

Fall without the Fever

From pumpkin pies to snuggly scarves, fall is without a doubt the best season. Unfortunately, the perks of fall cannot protect us from the dreaded flu season. As the leaves change color and the air grows colder, we can't help but cough and sneeze.  So to protect our ears, nose, and throat, here are a few Ayurvedic techniques you can use to feel better and enjoy fall without the fever!

For congestion (morning)

  • Mix a spoonful of VapoRub in a pot of boiling water
  • With the pot set in front of you, cover your head and the pot with a towel to keep all the steam in a contained area
  • Inhale the hot steam for 5 to 10 minutes
  • Repeat every morning until you feel better

For congestion (overnight)

  • Place a pot of boiling water near your bed
  • As the water evaporates over time, it will act as a humidifier

For sore throat

  • Mix a spoonful of honey and a spoonful of minced ginger
  • Stir mixture into a cup of hot water and drink it
  • For best results, repeat 2 to 3 times a day

For ear pain

  • Drip 2 to 4 drops of warm garlic juice into your ear
  • Repeat twice a day
