Venus Is in Retrograde so Catch Me in Sephora

It’s no secret that I’m a self-professed astrology follower. Like with most people, it started ironically with memes about “Mercury being in retrograde” and how Geminis are literally the worst. But now I’ve become that girl- the one who asks people when they were born so I can know their birth chart (for the record, I’m a sun sign Leo, rising sign Libra, and moon sign Virgo. Roast me.).

It’s become almost cathartic to talk with my friends about their horoscopes. Being able to blame our problems and issues on the stars helps us get through the quarter, and there’s nothing quite as entertaining as searching the signs of a potential significant other. Horoscopes have their faults though—they’re vague to the point where anybody can relate, categorize people, and also keep telling me that my ex and I were the perfect pair. However, that won’t stop me from indulging myself.

Venus is in retrograde right now, up until November 15th. This is the messy time of texting your ex, doubting your bae, and having a few messy flings. Prepare yourself for some messy relationship drama. The world is testing you.

I’ve been coping with this turbulent time by delving head-first into my midterms, leaving people on seen, and catching up with the latest makeup releases.

On the bright side, Milk Makeup is about to release an Astrology Tattoo Stamp if you feel the need to obnoxiously remind others “Hello, I’m a Leo.” Astrology-themed makeup collections have been coming out left and right in the past year or so, with collections such as bH Cosmetic’s well-loved Zodiac Eyeshadow Palette, Bite Lipstick’s monthly Astrology by Bite Amuse Bouche Lipsticks, and the Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection. Companies are definitely taking advantage of the zodiac craze, and it’s working—people love being able to have their own “personal” shade or product made for their sign.

Whether or not you buy into the vague message of horoscopes or not, it’s not hard to admit that these products can be amusing and that seventh week is a rough time.

Until then, good luck, don’t message anybody you shouldn’t, and catch me in Sephora going through my usual shopping therapy.
