My Fall Jewelry Trend Forecast
I am a jewelry addict; particularly of the gold variety. I try not to succumb too much to trends (as a self-proclaimed minimalist-come-recovering-maximalist), but some I have really grabbed ahold of. Between beaded chokers, ear cuffs and stacked necklaces, excess has never been so sexy (even mixing metals works!). Find my favorites below and a few places to derive inspiration in the meantime:
The beaded choker
I don’t know if you’ve ever perused Instagram or been into one of those Wicker Park boutiques that sells a scrap of chain for $50, but the time for delicate chokers is now. This has morphed into the ever so delicate yet sexy beaded choker (one of my favorites has evil eyes embedded in it) which makes a bit more of a statement.
Religious iconography
Maybe it’s sacrilegious, maybe it’s Madonna’s (not the Virgin one) impact, but religious iconography in jewelry has never been so on trend: good luck catching an Insta model in anything other than a cross choker with a little Madonna on it, or a rosary on top of a silk cami. It’s just what’s being done now, and even I have been lured into following the trend. The good thing is, if you are tempted as well, they are options to be found everywhere online:
The curated ear
I won’t go too into detail here, because expect an article coming up on this absolute winner of a trend. All I can say is that the time is now to get pierced up. Between conch rings, daith studs and the ever popular industrial bar, there has never been a better time to decorate up an ear (or both) and adorn yourself to your heart’s content. As a recovering maximalist, I prefer simple studs and hoops such as the ones pictured below:
